14 = 9 - p

14 = 9 - p

Move 9 to the other side

Sign changes from +9 to -9

14-9= 9-9-p

14-9= -p

5=-p

Mutiply both sides by -1 to get + p

(5)(-1)= (-p)(-1)

p= -5

Answer: p= -5
