1 red bead for every 4 blue beads. The first ratio in the strand would go blue, red, red, red, red. That is five beads. 40/5 = 8. So for eight strands she would need 8 red beads, and 32 blue beads or vice versa, depending on which color comes first in the ratio. Hope this helped, sorry if it was wrong.
