Answer:

[tex]x^{2} -4x+4=2x+1+x^{2}[/tex]

Cancel out the [tex]x^{2}[/tex] on both sides.

[tex]-4x+4=2x+1[/tex]

[tex]-4x-2x=1-4[/tex]

[tex]-6x=-3[/tex]

Now, you divide both sides by -6!

[tex]x=0.5[/tex]
