When you touch something hot, a neuron in your finger senses the temperature. Which happens first?

The first event that occurs is that an action potential is generated and moves along the neuron. The action potential is the disturbance in charge distribution that is created due to the stimulus, which is the high temperature in this case. This impulse travels through different neurons to complete the reflex arc.
