Wiesel in his speech the Perils of Indifference defines indifference as "not caring" and this is seductive in the way that it is easier to look the other way than to actually care and help the victims. Being involved in other people's pain and suffering is troublesome for many and that it is why the indifference is so seductive and dangerous. With it the others become and abstraction.
